Ras Kutani is a beautiful remote beach lodge only 35kms south of Dar Es Salaam. A really perfect place to relax and recoup either at the beginning or end of a trip.

The lodge is flanked by a fresh water lagoon abutting onto a coastal forest, which spills to the edge of the unspoilt and undeveloped beach.

Accommodation is in 9 spacious, charming cottages constructed of natural, local materials that harmonise perfectly with the wonderful surroundings. Ethnic furnishings impart a sense of the Tanzanian coast's rich cultural heritage. Each cottage has its own ensuite bathroom and large veranda with views of the azure ocean.

Further back, raised up on the hill with sweeping views are the four very luxurious and spacious suites. These rooms are wonderful with a beautiful contemporary design using lovely fabrics. The verandahs are the perfect area to relax with a private plunge pool from which to enjoy your surroundings.

One of the real highlights of the beach at Ras Kutnia is the lovely surf which you rarely get on the islands. Perfect for body surfing and swimming all day long regardless of the tide. The snorkelling is good although there is no diving.

For those who love nature then a walk in the tropical forest behind the lodge to see the different species of monkeys is relaxing and uplifting experience. Alternatively take a stroll into the nearby village or along the secluded beach.

Turtles come to nest along the beach at Ras Kutani and guests can get involved in the projects set up by the lodge to maintain their welfare.
