From December to March, the camp is in the southern Serengeti. This period is also the magical time when the Great Migration takes over the Ndutu plains to enjoy the fresh new short grass and to give birth to their next generation. It is an abundant time with lots of activity and exciting action.

The camp moves up to the central Serengeti from June to November, where the concentration of animals is denser at this time. The central Serengeti valley offers varied landscapes and a high volume of resident game year round. On our recent visit in June 2009 the camp had the most superb location close to Moru Kopjes; there were stunning views right across the valley below which was full of wildebeest and zebra - it was fantastic.

The guest tents are spacious and very comfortable with large king-size or twin beds and convenient bathrooms. The bathrooms are extremely impressive for a mobile camp, with shower, wash basin and an environmentally friendly toilet.  Each tent has its own private veranda with directors chairs so you can take in the panoramic views.

Central to the camp are two common tents that are open to the surrounding nature - one tent serves as the dining tent and the other one as a lounge, where you can relax, read some of the wildlife books and enjoy afternoon tea or early evening drinks.

The staff and guides are great - attentive, knowledgable and sociable. Also the food is really excellent - we were served the most superb dinner on our June visit.

We really like Olakira Camp and the feedback from our customers is always positive and full of praise.
