Mchanga Beach Lodge is situated on the underdeveloped north east coast of Zanzibar, between Pwani Mchangani and Matemwe and next to a stunning beach with views out to Mnemba Island.

Each room at Mchanga is spacious and airy with a combination of multi-functional shuttered, hand crafted, wooden louver doors, electric ceiling fans, air conditioning and traditionally high beamed ceilings

A "Zanzibari" four poster bed is the focal point in the room together with high quality, fine cotton bed linen.  All the furniture and accessories, including art work, are locally crafted.

Each room has its own sea facing, makuti covered sand terrace including two chairs and a table where early morning coffee and tea are delivered - a perfect way to start the day.

Set under a natural makuti is a relaxed open-air restaurant with sea views and lush tropical flowers. The chef specialises in authentic Swahili dishes which use traditional methods and ingredients.  Different seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes are available.

The bar has been built around beautiful, coconut palm trees creating a cool and relaxed space to enjoy a selection of homemade juices, cocktails, wine and spirits.

Set between the restaurant and "Bar under the Palms" is the sea facing pool.  Traditional beach beds and cushions are available to relax and chill out.  Also three charming beach bandas nestled in the dunes offer shade, sea breezes and views of Mnemba Island and the outer edges of Zanzibar's coral reef.

Mchanga Beach is an excellent "mid-range" beach lodge which is very well owner-managed.  We've had nothing but really good feedback from guests who have stayed here.
