Carry-on Equipment List

Below is a list of necessary trekking items which cannot be rented (in case of delayed luggage).
It is always worth being prepared for the unlikely event that your baggage doesn’t reach Tanzania at the same time as you do. In case your bags are delayed or lost we still want you to be able to climb. We suggest carrying on the plane a few extra items you may not have considered. Please reference the list below:

  • Underwear (enough for all hiking days)
  • Long underwear, top and bottom (1 pair)
  • Synthetic T-shirts (2)
  • Light-weight long sleeve synthetic shirt (2)
  • Hiking shorts (1)
  • Pair of light-weight pants (not jeans) (1)
  • Hiking boots (wear them on the plane)
  • Socks (one pair per hiking day)
  • Plastic water bottle (1). Make sure it can accommodate boiling water.
  • Sunglasses (with side gussets)
  • Toilet kit
  • Sun block
  • Insect repellant
  • Headlamp (with extra batteries)
  • Money belt
  • Plastic bags (of assorted sizes, including seal-able bags for packing out your trash)
  • Prescription medications
  • Personal First Aid Kit
  • Camera and extra film

We realise that this list is extensive, and carrying all these items on may be difficult. We suggest wearing a number of these items on the plane.

This information is not meant to alarm you, but rather to better prepare you in the event that a delay occurs or if bags are lost. Unfortunately, such things are out of our control and we prefer to handle this proactively. Please do not hesitate to call us if you have further questions or concerns.
