Zebra River is a very comfortable and friendly lodge about an hour due east of Sesriem, south-east of the Naukluft mountains, in the canyons of the Tsaris Mountains.

Zebra River is a small owner / managed lodge situated within a beautiful canyon in the Tsaris Mountains. This place has a really welcoming atmosphere which makes you feel calm and content from the moment you arrive.

The lodge has a main building with a dining room and lounge area which is all very homely and full of interesting artifacts and books. There is also a large shaded veranda and a small swimming pool area where you can eat during the day, or simply sit and relax.

There are 9 spacious rooms either connected to the main building or built on the ridge that sits behind.  Clean and comfortable, each room has a different style and a shaded veranda where you can cool off.

There are endless walking and hiking opportunities offered by the stunning canyon landscape of the Tsaris Mountains. This is also an area with fascinating geological aspects, birdwatching and star gazing and the lodge hosts offer guided walks and telescope sessions which are both interesting and fun.

The lodge also has its own in-house massage centre called "Desert Touch Massage" where guests can enjoy treatments or learn more about the skills involved in six different types of massage.

The lodge can also be used as a base for visiting the Sossusvlei area, but it does take a good hour or more to reach the sand dunes.  More likely is that we'd recommend this as a place to stay for a few nights or more, to relax at the beginning or end of a trip. It's great value and a really lovely environment.
