The "Bush Camp" at Okonjima is a beauitifully set up camp which offers a more luxurious and exclusive option to the Main Lodge.

Each of the African-style chalets enjoys complete privacy and is a combination of earthy, ochre walls and khaki-green canvas, under a thatched roof.  The rooms open out to the elements and you can relax and enjoy watching the wildlife and wonderful birds.

The Honeymoon Suite boasts a stunning view, a sliding glass door, 2 Queen-size beds, a comfortable en suite lounge with fireplace, a bath and outside 'bush' shower.

The main area is built in the shape of the indigenous 'Camelthorn' pod with a split level lounge and dining area.  The whole building looks out towards a watering hole where there is also an outdoor fireplace - the perfect place to sit and enjoy pre and post dinner drinks.  Meals are a set up as shared dining with the camp managers and guides as hosts.

The camp also has a secluded swimming pool where you can relax and cool off during the day.

Actvities are based around the Africat Foundation.  Africat is a non-profit organisation set up to conserve and protect threatened cheetah, leopard, and other wild cats of Namibia.  You will be able to observe some of this programme at work and learn more about these amazing and beautiful animals.

On our last trip (Nov 2008) we successfuly tracked two leopards, enjoyed close interaction with some of the cheetahs and saw lions and wilddog from very close quarters.

Okonjima has also set up a bushman trail where you can learn not only the art of making traditional artefacts, but how the San adapt and survive in an unforgiving wilderness environment.

A really lovely bush camp experience which we tend to recommend for a couple of nights at the beginning or end of a self-drive trip. Customer feedback is always very good.
