Rwanda

Rwanda is a magnificently scenic country known as the "Land of a Thousand Hills".

After many years of post-colonial conflict which culminated in the 1994 genocide Rwanda's democratic government can now proclaim to be a country both stable and peaceful.

Almost every visitor who travels to Rwanda comes to see the Mountain Gorillas that live in the Virunga Mountains (Volcanoes National Park) on the border of Uganda, Rwanda and Congo.

It was here that Dian Fossey carried out research for 20 years creating the foundation for mountain gorilla tourism.

Volcanoes National Park: A particularly important area as it has seven habituated gorilla groups which can be trekked. Any close observation and contact with these incredible apes, within their own natural habitat, is one of the most wonderful and inspiring wildlife experiences possible.

Kigali: Depending on your travel plans and possible flight schedule you may require an ovenight in Kigali, Rwanda's attractive capital, which has some historial places of interest as well as it's day to day appeal.
